Grading the Jets’ 33-18 loss to the Eagles at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Offense

OK, so I’m grading on a curve here. The Jets only had 281 yards of offense (126 in the second half), but there was progress on Sunday. Rookie QB Zach Wilson (23 of 38, 226 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 83.9 rating, one rushing TD) played his best game of the season. He looked in control and in rhythm in the first half and the Jets scored touchdowns on their first three possessions. The offense faded late, but that was partly because the defense could not get them the ball back. WR Elijah Moore (6 catches, 77 yards, 1 TD) continues to look like a star.

Grade: B

Defense

The Eagles scored on seven of their eight possessions in the game … with a backup QB. Gardner Minshew (20 of 25, 242 yards, 2 TDs, 133.7 rating) carved the Jets’ defense up. The Eagles rolled up 418 total yards and scored touchdowns on their first three drives and field goals on their next four. RB Miles Sanders (24 rushes, 120 yards) had some big gains and TE Dallas Goedert (6 catches, 105 yards, 2 TDs) killed the Jets early.

Special Teams

Let’s start with the good: KR Braxton Berrios jump-started the Jets with a 79-yard return to open the game. That set the Jets up with great field position on their way to scoring a touchdown to start the game. New kicker Alex Kessman had a horrible debut, missing two point-after tries. Punter Braden Mann had a net average of 29 yards a punt.

Grade: C

Coaching

The Jets clearly did not expect Minshew to start and that is on the coaches. There was a question all week about whether Jalen Hurts would play, but the Jets said after the game that they did not do any work on Minshew. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has to tighten up his unit. They looked lost early in the game. Head coach Robert Saleh still has not won back-to-back games.

Grade: F
