Glenn Foster, ex-Saint, dies in police custody after arrest

Glenn Foster Jr., who played two seasons as a defensive lineman for the New Orleans Saints, has died in police custody shortly after being arrested in Alabama, the Pickens County coroner’s office has confirmed to multiple outlets. He was 31.

According to WWL, the CBS affiliate in New Orleans, Foster was arrested on Sunday in Reform, Alabama, a small town of about 1,600 people. He was initially booked on charges of reckless endangerment and resisting arrest by “attempt to elude.” The charges were later adjusted to three counts of simple assault and one count of third degree robbery.

Pickens County coroner Chad Harless told the outlet that the results of an autopsy are pending. The official told that he could not comment further, as the results are under investigation.

Foster was an undrafted free agent who appeared in 17 games with the Saints in 2013 and 2014. He reportedly stayed in the New Orleans area after his playing career ended, working as a developer, contractor and real estate agent.
