Hawks fans troll P.J. Washington with ‘Brittany Renner’ chant

It seems Atlanta Hawks fans were eager to get under P.J. Washington’s skin on Sunday.

As the Hornets forward readied to take a free throw during the second quarter in Atlanta, Hawks fans began to chant, “Brittany Renner,” a nod to Washington’s famous ex.

Renner responded to a video of the chants on Twitter with crying laughing emojis and writing, “glad you made it though BD @PJWashington.” She also posted some fan clips of the chants to her Instagram Story.

Washington, 23, seemed to ignore the noise as he helped Charlotte maintain the lead. The Hornets later won the game, 130-127.

Washington and Renner’s relationship drama has long been chronicled. Over the summer, Washington penned a series of curious messages about someone “faking it all along.” Internet detectives speculated that Renner was the person in question.

Renner, who shares son Paul Jermaine Washington III with the NBA star, later opened up about her split from Washington during an appearance on the “Off the Record” podcast last month.

Recently, Renner was invited by Deion Sanders to speak to his Jackson State football players about life off the field.

“It’s a give-and-take but you have to be aware of what you’re signing up for,” Renner said. “You’re trying to make it to the NFL. You do understand there’s a lot that comes with that, right? To be able to decipher who really loves you for you, I think that’s the billion-dollar question we’re all wanting to know.”

The meeting with Renner took place in October but was released on social media last week.
