The relationship between Holly Sonders and Oscar De La Hoya has a mark of permanence.
Last week, the former Fox Sports broadcaster unveiled a large tattoo of De La Hoya on her back on Instagram, where she also professed her love for the 48-year-old boxer.
“Dear Oscar, You have everything in life,” Sonders began. “There is nothing I can give you that you haven’t received already…except for this. This tattoo signifies the day you became The Golden Boy. The moment you won the gold medal at the 1992 Olympics and looked up at your mother who had passed a few months prior.”
Sonders, 34, added that she enlisted someone close to the couple’s inner circle to help bring her vision “to life.”
“There was no question that I wanted it to be your sisters husband @tattooesteban,” she continued. “I love you @oscardelahoya.”
De La Hoya, who held 11 championships in six weight divisions and is now a promoter, was ecstatic to receive this gift.
“It actually tops everything that I’ve ever been given. Who can top this?” De La Hoya recently told TMZ. “I’ve been given everything you could possibly imagine. And a tattoo, a beautiful portrait of me looking up at the sky to my mother. The ’94 Olympic Games were just incredible.”
Sonders also noted that she did not have a particular reason for getting the ink — just as a major show of affection.
“There was no reason for it,” Sonders said to TMZ. “I have three tattoos. I’ve wanted a 4th for a while.”
The couple first went public together back in August.
