What channel is LSU vs. Texas A&M on today? Time, TV schedule for 2021 SEC football game

There are bigger SEC rivalries than Texas A&M-LSU — lots of them, even. But there are few games in this series or in any series in college football this season with the implications of this game when it kicks off on Saturday.

The Aggies are 8-3 this year but out of contention for the SEC title game, while LSU is 5-6 and just looking to make a bowl game. Texas A&M has been led by running back Isaiah Spiller, who ranks top-5 in the SEC in most major rushing categories while LSU quarterback Max Johnson is one of the conference’s best passers.

It’s also potentially the last game of the Ed Orgeron era in Baton Rouge — one which has been a roller coaster. Orgeron’s tenure at LSU has seemingly been equally defined by newfound success and a national championship in 2019, as much as it has allegations of covering up sexual assault, Title IX lawsuits and general impropriety by Orgeron himself.

Orgeron won’t be returning to the Tigers next year — that’s not in doubt. The decision to fire Orgeron was announced back on Oct. 19 and made for many of the aforementioned off the field reasons as well as the fact that the Tigers are 10-11 since winning the 2019 national championship and are looking at the prospect of not making a bowl game for the second straight year.

That begs the question of who his successor will be.

Enter Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M. Fisher spent six years in purple and gold as the offensive coordinator from 2000-06, winning a national title in 2003 as an assistant and another 10 years later as the head coachat Florida State.

This year, his Aggies team upset then-No. 1 Alabama and has been ranked as high as No. 5 in the country, leading Fisher’s name to get thrown around as a possible replacement.

Recently though, Fisher emphatically denied any interest in returning to LSU, going so far as to say he’d “be the dumbest human alive” to leave Texas A&M given the upcoming recruiting class and what he feels he’s built in College Station.
